State Money For City Library Project

Springfield is getting nearly  five-million dollars in state grants to construct a new library.

The  grant, approved yesterday by the Massachusetts Board of Library  Commissioners, is going toward a new branch in Springfield's East Forest  Park neighborhood, on the grounds of the Mary Dryden Veterans Memorial  Elementary School.

The state awarded a total of 67-million dollars in  grants to nine communities, also including a nearly four-million-dollar  grant for Hadley.
