MGM Seeks Delay In Housing Project

MGM Springfield officials are  expected to formally ask for more time to create market-rate housing in  the city's downtown area at Monday's meeting.

The delay is being  requested because MGM is changing where it wants to put the housing from  the former School Department building on State Street to property on  Elm Street.

MGM is committed to developing the housing as part of its  agreement for bringing its casino and resort to the city, which is  slated to open in September 2018. Tonight's City Council meeting is at 7  o'clock.
