State Judge Says Voting Deadline Unconstitutional

A state judge says the Massachusetts  law that requires people to register to vote 20 says before an election  is unconstitutional.

The Suffolk Superior Court judge's ruling came in a  lawsuit filed by voting rights groups.  It says that the restriction  placed by the law denies qualified citizens the right to vote.

The  judge rejects the state's argument that removing the 20 day deadline  would place burdens on local election officials.
