State Supreme Court -- First Of It's Kind Ruling

The Supreme Judicial Court is ruling  court officers do not have to honor federal immigration requests after a  criminal case is over.

Justices wrote today there's no Massachusetts  statute which requires court officers to do a Federal civil immigration  detainer.

The court did not say if the ruling covers police officers,  but justices did say common law doesn't give officers the authority to  arrest in civil matters.
