Governor Charlie Baker is set to sign the bill rewriting the voter drafted law legalizing the use and retail sale of marijuana.
The signing of the measure will begin the eleven month process of licensing retail marijuana sellers.
The rewritten law raises the maximum tax on retail pot sales from 12 to 20 percent.
It also forms a cannabis advisory board to oversee the recreational marijuana market.
Even though the law will be on the books, that doesn't mean Police Chiefs are pleased.
Leicester Police Chief James Hurley says lawmakers are going to fast. He says departments throughout the state, don't have the training, or the equipment to deal with impaired driving because of marijuana.
And, since there is no breathalyzer test for pot, arrests and convictions may be hard to get.
