Appeal Next In Texting Suicide Case

A judge is ordering Michelle Carter  to spend 15 months in prison for talking her boyfriend into killing  himself.

Carter was sentenced in Bristol Juvenile Court yesterday, and  is allowed to remain free as her case is appealed.

Prosecutors had been  seeking a sentence of seven to 12 years in prison for the Plainville  woman, who was convicted of manslaughter at trial.

She was accused of  texting Conrad Roy the Third repeatedly and urging him to take his own  life, which he did in 2014.

Springfield Attorney says that the sentence was reasonable, not too high or low and was about what a person would get in a drunk driving case.
