Longmeadow is now a Purple Heart town.
Six veterans, two from World War Two and four who served in Vietnam, were honored during the town's first Purple Heart ceremony on Monday.
Town officials say they'll carry on the tradition annually in conjunction with Purple Heart Day.
The Purple Heart is the oldest award recognized by all military services and is bestowed to military personnel who are wounded or killed in combat.
