A Springfield man is headed to state prison after an indecent assault conviction.
Polfilio Serrano was sentenced on Monday in Hampden Superior Court to seven to eight years, followed by a five-year probationary period.
Serrano was found guilty of the lesser offense of assault and battery on a child under the age of 14 last week after he was originally charged with child rape.
A mistrial had originally been declared in the case last December.
