Flooding Draws More Resources Nationwide

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is  bringing in additional National Guard members to help with flooding in  Houston.

Abbott said via Twitter that a thousand more troops are on  their way to Houston.

They'll join three-thousand National Guard  service members already heading to America's fourth-largest city.

Houston has seen major flooding after Tropical Storm Harvey dumped more  than 30 inches on some parts of the city.

Areas of Houston could a  total of 50 inches of rain over the next few days.

Meantime, there is a team of volunteers from Western Mass in the Houston area.  Some volunteers have been delayed in getting to Texas because the airport in Houston is under water.

Officials from the Red Cross are asking for help in replenishing blood supplies and other supplies used in the flooding.
