The results are in from Tuesday's preliminary elections in Springfield and Chicopee.
In Springfield city council races, incumbents Justin Hurst, Thomas Ashe, Kateri Walsh, Michael Fenton, Melvin Edwards and E. Henry Twiggs received enough votes to move on to the November 7th general election, along with challengers Jesse Lederman, Timothy Ryan, Tracye Whitfield, Kelli Moriarty-Finn, Victor Davila, Ernesto Cruz, Jynai McDonald, Kency Gilet, Kevin Dumpson and Robert Kelly.
In school committee races in Springfield, incumbents Denise Hurst and Barbara Gresham advanced, along with challengers James Ferrera, LaTonia Naylor, Ryan Hess, and Stephanie Murchison-Brown.
In a preliminary school committee race in Chicopee, the top two names were Edward James Tanhauser, Junior and Trina House-Labonte, unseating incumbent Dana Cutter.
Voter turnout in both cities was described as low by election officials.
