Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey is calling for legislation to address soaring airline fees.
Markey says a new Government Accountability Office report says airlines don't consider the actual cost of services when setting fee amounts.
He says this proves that airlines are nickel and diming captive passengers to line their own pockets, not to cover the actual costs of services provided.
He also says they use the fees to artificially lower airfare costs, making travel seem less expensive than it actually is.
