Murder suspect Gary Schara is being kept under close observation while in custody.
That's according to Hampden County Sheriff Nicholas Cocchi, who says the move is being made for the West Springfield man's health and well being.
Schara had reportedly attempted suicide and was placed in a Connecticut hospital over the weekend before he was arrested in connection to the death of Lisa Ziegert of Agawam, which had been under investigation for 25 years.
