Mayor Upset With Judges After Release Of Suspect

Springfield  Mayor Domenic Sarno is criticizing the court system for allowing the  suspect in Sunday's deadly vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident to be free  on bail for a previous case prior to the crash.

Joshua Cutler of Springfield pleaded not guilty to the charge of leaving the scene of an accident in Springfield  District Court on Monday.

Sarno released a statement saying Cutler was a  repeat offender who had an extensive criminal history and should not  have been allowed by the court to walk.

Hampden County Assistant  District Attorney Robert Schmidt says that police found three  empty packets of heroin in Cutler's pockets when he was arrested Sunday  night.
