Saving Lives Part The Plan At Local Stores

The pharmacy manager for Big Y says  people are taking advantage of the availability of the  opioid overdose reversal drug Narcan.

The Springfield-based grocery  chain began selling the product without a prescription at all of its  Massachusetts and Connecticut stores several weeks ago.

Pharmacy Manager Jennifer Salvon says most insurance companies cover the cost.  But if they do not, depending on co-pays it appears it would cost somewhere between 40 dollars and 150 dollars per dose.

The overdose reversal drug is available at stores throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut.
