Operation Greenlight May Make Difference

A murdered Springfield man's family is asking the city to make gas stations more secure.

Springfield  City Council members considered a proposal from the police department  called Project Greenlight on Monday, a system that adds lights and  cameras to late-night businesses that are in high-crime areas.

Ivery  Downie was shot after stopping for gas at a Mobil gas station on Main  Street in May.

Proponents say the same initiative drastically reduced  crime in Detroit.
