Test Results Tell Confusing Story

Springfield  school officials are analyzing the results of a new standardized test  that are being shared by the state this week.

Only twenty-three percent  of third through eighth graders in Springfield  Public Schools who took the Next Generation MCAS test were proficient  in math, while the numbers were similar when focusing on the English  results for middle school students.

Superintendent Daniel Warwick says  it's hard to get a fair assessment of student growth  because of the multiple versions of standardized testing that have been  rolled out in the commonwealth over the last few years, and he notes the  current version is much more rigorous.
