SJC Says Former Patriot Conviction Vacated

The Supreme Judicial Court says  former NFL star Aaron Hernandez's murder conviction will remain  vacated.

Hernandez took his own life in prison in April, and his  conviction for the killing of Odin Lloyd was still in the appeals  process.

State law requires that convictions be vacated if the person  dies before exhausting all appeals.

Prosecutors sought to keep the  conviction intact, but a single justice rejected that request on Friday.
