#2 In State Police Steps Down

The second in command in the  Massachusetts State Police is retiring.

The announcement of the  retirement of Deputy Superintendent Francis Hughes comes days after  Colonel Richard McKeon announced that he's also retiring.

McKeon is  leaving Friday amid claims that he ordered a trooper to change an arrest  report involving a judge's daughter.

Police officials say it's common  that when the colonel leaves, the deputy also goes, to allow the new  colonel to choose their second in command.
