A former Springfield basketball star will not be inducted into the Springfield Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame because of his status as a convicted sex offender.
A school district committee announced the withdrawal of its nomination of Desi Jackson on Thursday, after fielding complaints from parents.
The annual induction is scheduled for Saturday at Central High School, where Jackson won a state championship in 1991.
He was convicted of rape and abuse of a child in 1995.
