A new report detailing relations between police and the communities they serve in Springfield is being released.
A special committee organized by the Springfield City Council, has released a report that includes nearly a year's worth of input from community meetings and online feedback.
Among the highlights: residents are pleased with the Springfield PD's anti-gang and community policing unit, but are displeased with police dispatchers when calling for assistance. The report suggests that in some cases dispatchers were rude.
Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno released a statement thanking City Council president Orlando Ramos and the committee for the work put in for the report, but did not indicate if he'd implement any of the changes recommended.
