Homelessness among families with children is an ongoing problem in Springfield, according to new federal data.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development says Springfield has the second-highest level in the nation among small cities in that category, and also has the highest homeless population in Massachusetts outside of Boston.
HUD estimated nearly two-thousand people were in the homeless-with-families group in Springfield this year.
