Heavy rain is forecasted for the Pioneer Valley today.
Public works departments across the area have been preparing for the rains by focusing on clearing snow from storm drains.
West Springfield DPW Director Robert Colson says residents are being encouraged to clear drains in front of their homes.
Janna Brown in the WHYN Weather Center says that a flash freeze is expected on Saturday after rain changes over to freezing rain and sleet.
Two inches of rain is expected.
