Crime is down in the city of Springfield, according to the latest stats released by the Springfield Police Department.
Overall crime is said to have dropped 45-percent over the last five years.
Commissioner John Barbieri says the city will face a challenge crime-wise when the MGM casino opens later this year, but there will be an added police presence downtown.
