MassMutual is embarking on a major expansion in Massachusetts.
The financial services giant announced yesterday that it plans to move 15 hundred jobs by 2021 to Springfield, expand it's State Street facility and then create as many as 25 hundred jobs that will be split between Springfield and Boston's Seaport District.
The company says it is moving out of Enfield, Connecticut where it had been for years because it can better thrive in Massachusetts.
Connecticut has been in a downturn in the recent years because of high operating costs and high business taxes.
Enfield reaped 37 million dollars a year in tax revenues from the company.
Town officials say that they believe they will be able to lure another company to move into the Route 5 facility before Mass Mutual officially leaves town,.
