US Wins Women's Hockey Gold

A gold medal is being brought to the  Pioneer Valley from the Winter Olympics.

Team USA beat Canada, 3-to-2 in  a shootout in the women's ice hockey finale in Pyeongchang, shortly  after 2 a.m. Eastern Time on Thursday.

Westfield native Kacey Bellamy,  who plays defense, didn't factor into the final score in this one but  had a goal and two assists overall in the tournament.

This was the first  gold medal for the Americans in women's hockey since 1998.

''I can't put it into words,'' defenseman Kacey Bellamy said.

'This whole year is for everyone that came before us.

This is forJulie Chu (former USA team captain) and for all our families at home, the schools that we went to, everyone supporting us.''
