Some Problems With New State Computer System

The Massachusetts  Registry of Motor Vehicles is back in business today statewide.

The  RMV was closed for a few days for installation of a new computer system  to handle federally compliant "Real ID" driver's licenses and ID cards.

To get "Real ID," applicants will need documentation to prove state  residency and U.S. citizenship.

Starting in 2020, "Real ID" will be  required to fly domestically.

In some cases the computer would not recognize the Vehicle Inspection Number for car inspections, but that was eventually rectified.
