Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno says he is directing the city's director of licensing to issue a cease-and-desist order to a dance studio at the Eastfield Mall, where a large disturbance was reported over the weekend.
Police responded to the mall after an overcrowding issue at Youthful Expressions caused problems on Saturday night.
Some teens apparently thought there had been a shooting, which led to panic inside the mall and on social media.
That social media offering was false.
Sarno is seeking an entertainment hearing and said in a statement he hopes the establishment will work with the city to create a safe environment.
