San Juan Mayor Wants Equality

The mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, is  paying a visit to Western Massachusetts.

Carmen Yulin Cruz spoke in  Holyoke on Wednesday and is scheduled to speak at a lecture at Mount  Holyoke College on Thursday.

In her speech last night, in a city with a  large Puerto Rican population, Cruz talked about the struggles that the  island has dealt with in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

The Mayor has come to Holyoke at the invitation of City Councilor Josie Valentin.  The councilor volunteered during the cleanup after the hurricane.
