Police Roll Out New Crime Fighting Program

The Springfield Police Department is  debuting its new Real Time Crime Analysis Center.

R-TAC, as the police  department is calling it, is tied in to all city cameras and will be  linking up with Springfield Public Schools and Springfield Union Station  cameras, and will also have external views of the area surrounding MGM  Springfield.

The SPD says it is working with Pride Stores on a pilot  program for access to external cameras at their gas stations as well.

The police department says the expanded camera presence will help to  increase the safety of both officers and civilians and aid officers in  their investigations.
