Rosenberg Steps Down After Ethics Report

Former state Senate President Stan  Rosenberg is resigning his position.

Rosenberg has submitted a letter  of resignation to the Senate that takes effect at five p.m. today.

Rosenberg stepped aside as Senate president last year amid a sex assault  and harassment scandal involving his husband Bryon Hefner.

He had  hoped to remain in the Senate seat representing Amherst, but says the  Senate ethics committee report makes it impossible for him to continue.

The Governor says that Rosenberg made the right decision.

He does not say whether he will call Rosenberg to wish him well.
