Mayor Says City Hiring Practices Are Solid

The city of Springfield  is releasing new information on its efforts to be an equal-opportunity  employer.

22 of the city's 29  departments have 25-percent or greater minority employee representation,  eight departments have 50 percent minority representation and 16  departments have more than 50 percent female employees.

Springfield  Mayor Domenic Sarno defended his minority hiring record earlier this  year after City Council passed a resolution urging more diversity.
