The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is awarding a contract for just over eight-million dollars to construct a new platform at Union Station in Springfield.
Platform C will feature several accessibility upgrades, including an elevator.
The platform is expected to be handicapped accessible as well.
Construction is expected to be finished by November.
Train passengers currently use Platform D.
