Mob Case Sentencing For Two Area Men

Federal prosecutors say two Western  Massachusetts associates of the Genovese La Cosa Nostra crime family  were sentenced in federal court on extortion-related charges.

They were Richard Valentini of East Longmeadow and Francesco Depergola  of West Springfield,  who were given 20-month and 38-month prison terms, respectively.

In  August of 2016, the U.S. Department of Justice says Valentini and  Depergola were arrested for engaging in various criminal activities in Springfield, including loan-sharking and extortion from legitimate and illegitimate businesses.
