Springfield's City Council is approving a new contract with district fire chiefs.
The council voted 7-to-6 on Monday to approve the contract for the ten-member Springfield Fire Chiefs Association.
The controversial deal will place residency requirements on future chiefs, but not current ones.
City Council had rejected three previous contract agreements over the residency issue.
