A veteran Hartford police officer is in critical but stable condition after she was stabbed in the neck while responding to a call.
The officer was called to the Spectra Boutique Apartments yesterday morning and began struggling with a woman being evicted from a unit.
Chevoughn Augustin allegedly stabbed the officer repeatedly, and is charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault and other offenses.
The unidentified officer underwent surgery yesterday and remains in intensive care.
Police Chief David Rosado says that two workers at the Constitution Plaza facility stepped in and disarmed the suspect. The Chief says he and the entire department is thankful for their efforts and those efforts probably saved the officer's life.
The officer is a 12 year veteran of the Hartford Police Department.
