Stabbed Officer Opens Eyes And Alert

Hartford Police Chief David Rosado calls her "one tough cop."

Now Officer Jill Kidik continues to fight for her lift in Hartford Hospital this weekend after being attacked while on an eviction call at a downtown Hartford apartment.

Kidik, according to the chief, opened her eyes this weekend and when she did she was surrounded by family.

The Chief isn't going into a lot of detail.  But does say that Officer Kidik is alert and is aware of what happened.

Officer Kidik is a graduate of Western New England University and was an intern in the Springfield Police Department.

She is a 12 year veteran of the Hartford Police Department where she is trained as a crisis management expert.

She has also been remembered as the officer, who back in 2015 saved a choking one year old child.

The officer was on a standard call, responding to a tenant - landlord despute when she was placed in a headache and stabbed.

Chevoughn Augustin, the 39 year old woman police say stabbed the officer twice in the neck is being held on high bail in Hartford.

Police say the woman apparently confessed to stabbing the officer.
