Holyoke Joins National Suit

Holyoke is joining the Chicopee,  Springfield, Greenfield and other Massachusetts municipalities in filing  a lawsuit against opioid manufacturers.

Mayor Alex Morse made the announcement on Monday.

The city says the  suit will be filed against five of the largest prescription opioid  makers and their related companies, and against the three largest  wholesale drug distributors in the U.S.

Morse says that unless the big companies are forced to obey the law, the nation and it's cities and towns will never be able to get a handle on the opioid crisis.
