Springfield at-large City Councilor Justin Hurst is requesting that the city change its police commissioner.
Hurst sent a letter to Mayor Domenic Sarno on Tuesday urging John Barbieri to be removed from the post following criminal charges that were filed against multiple police officers last week.
Sarno dismissed the suggestion and said he's fully supportive of the job Barbieri is doing.
It is unclear whether the council will take any further action against the Commissioner.
