New train service is starting this weekend from Springfield to Hartford and New Haven, Connecticut.
The CTrail line will supplement Amtrak's Northeast Regional service between the three cities, resulting in nearly three-dozen daily trips on weekdays and about a dozen trips on weekends and holidays.
A ceremonial launch of the service is scheduled at Springfield's Union Station on Friday, featuring Congressman Richard Neal and others.
The event will feature Springfield officials leaving from Union Station and Governor Malloy leaving from New Haven. They will meet up at Hartford's Union Station about noon time.
