Holyoke City Councilors are expected to meet tonight to take on what some say could be the final resolution of the Mater Dolorosa Church issue.
Parishioners have been close to the once popular church for generations. When the Diocese of Springfield opted to close it because they say it was unsafe, people challenged the measure directly to the Vatican.
Now Councilors are going to be asked to review the sale of the structure. But some are concerned about where all the money is going to come from to renovate the structure. They say that will take lots of money that the city doesn't have.
Once the renovations are done, the completed structure will be put out to bid for a suitable reuse.
