West Nile Virus Detected In State

The first positive tests for West Nile virus in Massachusetts  are being confirmed.

The state Department of Public Health reports  that a mosquito sample taken recently in Weymouth has tested positive  for West Nile.

There have been no positive tests for West Nile in any  animals or humans so far this year.

The virus can cause illness in some  people if they are bitten by an infected mosquito.
