State Poised For Tax Holiday This Year

It appears that the Massachusetts State Legislature will vote on a measure that would allow for a State Sales Tax Holiday sometime in August.

A permanent sales tax holiday was signed into law as part of what was generally called "The Grand Bargain Bill," but the holiday wouldn't kick in until next year.

But, now word this weekend from the House Speaker Bob Deleo that he will propose the measure as part of a general economic development bill that lawmakers will decide as early as this week.

Although the Massachusetts Retailers Association is on board with the plan, retailers are split down the middle as to whether it generates new sales, or just delays to the holiday sales that were going to be made anyway.
