Arraignment Postponed As Vigils Continue

U.S. and state flags in Massachusetts  are at half staff on all state and municipal buildings until further  notice.  Governor Charlie Baker issued the order to honor fallen  Weymouth police officer Michael Chesna.  He was shot and killed in the  line of duty yesterday.

State Police Colonel Kerry Gilpin is  offering the agencies condolences to the families of the Weymouth  shooting victims.  Weymouth Officer Micheal Chesna was shot and killed  by a man yesterday morning.  An elderly woman was hit by a stray bullet  into her house fired by the suspect during the shooting incident.

Gilpin says the State Police will work tirelessly with Norfolk District  Attorney Michael Morrisey and the Weymouth Police Department to hold the  defendant accountable for the crimes.

There's a vigil tonight for fallen Weymouth  police Officer Michael Chesna.  Tonight's 7 p.m. vigil  will be at Weymouth High School.

Meantime, Lopes will be arraigned tomorrow.  The Norfolk County DA says that the defendant is not medically available for arraignment.

It is still unclear whether that arraignment will happen in the hospital or in a courtroom.
