Tuition Rises For UMass Students

The tuition rate is increasing for  undergraduate students at the University of Massachusetts.

The school's  board of trustees voted Friday for a two-and-a-half-percent hike for  in-state students and a three-percent raise for out-of-staters.

UMass  president Marty Meehan says the increase allows for the preservation of  the quality of academic and research activities.
