Chestnut Gets Big Money For Rehab

Springfield's  Chestnut Towers is receiving just over ten-million dollars in  affordable housing funds from the state to conduct renovations.

The  announcement was made by Secretary of Housing and Development Jay Ash  during a visit to the downtown apartment complex on Wednesday.

The  funding is a supplement to the 45-million dollars being sunk into the  building by its current management.

Chestnut was built in the 1970' s and  has nearly five-hundred apartments.
