There's now a law in Massachusetts that decriminalizes abortion and protects reproductive health care. Governor Charlie Baker signed the bill this morning that overturns a centuries-old law that criminalized abortion, restricted access to contraception and punished providers.
Longmeadow state Senator Eric Lesser says the Commonwealth is letting the rest of the country know it will protect women's rights.
Activists say with Roe v. Wade in jeopardy, the new law is the best defense against what they describe as a hostile President, U.S. Supreme Court and Congress.
Some legal experts however wonder whether the repeal gives women all the rights they have now, if if the Roe decision were ever repealed.
