A new initiative is being launched by Springfield Technical Community College to bring on the next generation of engineers.
Officials said on Tuesday they plan on introducing an "imaginative education" approach to Springfield Public Schools classrooms thanks to a million-dollar grant from the National Science Foundation, in partnership with Smith College.
Physics and engineering professor Beth McGinnis-Canvanaugh said the goal for the colleges is to be the Harry Potter of science, technology, engineering and math education.
This will start in the 2019-2020 school year.
