Pittsfield Man Faces Prison In Fraud Case

A biotechnology executive from Western  Massachusetts is being convicted of defrauding investors.

Patrick  Muraca of Pittsfield was found guilty by a federal jury in New York  yesterday on counts of wire fraud and making false statements.

Muraca,  the former president of Nuclea Biotechnologies, misappropriated hundreds  of thousands of dollars of investor funds after he founded two new  businesses in 2016, according to federal prosecutors.

He faces up to 20  years in prison when he's sentenced later this year.
