State Helps Western Wildfires

A team of Massachusetts firefighters  is headed out west to help battle wildfires.

The 20 member crew is  joining other firefighters in Montana to help protect structures and  build fire breaks.

Governor Charlie Baker says the state has some of  the most talented and well qualified firefighters in the country.

He  also says the state has a long history of national and international  cooperation in battling wildfires.

Meantime, as the state sends reinforcements out of town today, one firefighter who has been on the front lines in Wyoming is returning.

Rich Levangie says he is glad to be home.  He is a firefighter with the Auburn Fire Department in the Central part of the state.

He says he was glad he could help.

His time home won't be all that long.  After some time off he is expected to head out west again on another assignment.
