State Raises Alert Level For West Nile Virus

The risk level for West Nile Virus has  been raised statewide.

Health officials say there is now a moderate  risk for the mosquito-carried virus.

This is the second time ever that  Massachusetts has raised the risk level.

The Public Health Commissioner  says mosquitoes with West Nile have had perfect breeding conditions  with the humid weather and heavy rainfall.

Officials are careful to point out that there are no human cases of West Nile Virus but because of the rainy weather, they needed to increase the level in an abundance of caution.
